Lean in. Click around. This site is loaded with useful, up-to-date information about living, working, and thriving in Rupert. Read the pages that interest you, then read a few that don’t; sometimes that’s where the surprises are.
A quick note for anyone who thinks Rupert is the edge of the world: we have an airport. YPR runs a daily Air Canada connection to Vancouver, which means your family can come for a long weekend and you can still make it to that cousin’s wedding in Toronto (if you must). Not remote. Just refreshingly far from traffic.
Prefer your research with popcorn? These three are a solid start:
Get in touch with one of our community ambassadors. They’re real Rupertites, they know this place inside and out, and they’d love to talk to you about it. There’s no sales pitch. There’s no script. They’ll just answer your questions, including the weird ones you’re slightly embarrassed to ask. (Yes, you can have a vegetable garden. No, you don’t need a boat. Yes, the people really are that cool.)
Browse our job board and reach out to local employers directly. Here’s the thing about Rupert: it’s small enough that a personal email or a phone call still actually goes somewhere. You aren’t a number in an applicant tracking system. You’re a person, talking to a person, in a town that genuinely wants you here.
Connect with one of our local realtors and our community ambassadors to find your spot. Whether you’re buying, renting, or window-shopping at midnight in your pyjamas, here’s where to start.
Time to make it official. Exciting and slightly terrifying in equal measure, which is exactly the right energy. Here are some local options for once you get here, and a long-haul option for the bigger jobs.

With your moving date fixed, it’s tempting to spend all your free time daydreaming of Rupert’s glorious ocean views. That’s a totally valid way to spend an afternoon, but also take a few minutes to sort out some practicalities:

Packing is the one part of this whole adventure we genuinely cannot help you with. But you can do it. You’ve done harder things. (You’ve sat through meetings that could have been emails. This is easier than that.)
Crank some music. Order pizza. Be ruthless about what makes the cut. Try not to label everything “misc.” And when you find yourself questioning your life choices at 2 a.m. surrounded by tape and bubble wrap, remember: this is the worst part. After this, it gets a lot better.
You made it. You actually did it. Take a moment. Look at the harbour. Breathe in air that smells like ocean and cedar instead of exhaust. Notice that nobody is honking at you.
Then get in touch with our welcoming committee. They’ll help you get settled, plug you into the community, and answer all the “okay but where do I find…” questions that come up in the first few weeks. You’ll feel like a local in no time, and one day, probably sooner than you’d expect, you’ll catch yourself giving directions to a tourist and realize you’ve become one of us.
