Our rec complex is the kind of place you come for a swim and leave three hours later wondering where the afternoon went. Indoor pool with lap lanes, a diving pool, a tot pool for the tiny humans, a hot tub, saunas, and a fitness area perched above the whole show so you can quietly admire everyone else’s form while pretending to focus on your own. Next door you’ll find a full-sized gym, an arena, an auditorium, and outdoor fields and a track just a short walk away. It’s basically a sports compound. We just don’t call it that because it sounds intense.
Find programs hereRight next to the rec centre sits one of our local gems, the Lester Centre for the Performing Arts. With room for more than 700 people, the stage has hosted everything from weddings and town halls, to the local musical, to Canadian Legends 54-40 . Not bad for a town our size.
What’s on the agenda?Two minutes down the road, a veritable hive of motion. There’s the Racquet Centre with a full-service fitness studio and an 18-hole golf course that offers a 5,890-yard, 70 par course that boasts a driving range, clubhouse and a buffet-style kitchen. A little further along the highway you’ll hit the library, tennis courts, and a dance school.

A world-class museum, a boutique shopping district, a 12,000 sq ft gymnastics centre and futsal facilities, a boat launch, and a waterfront trail all share the same stretch of coastline. Grab a coffee, wander the shops, launch the boat, or just watch the eagles show off (they think they’re the main character; please don’t tell them otherwise).
