Tourism is heading North

Fasten your seatbelt. Tourism is growing at full speed.

Surging visitor numbers
Prince Rupert’s visitor economy is growing rapidly. In 2026, cruise visitation more than doubled to over 150,000 passengers, up from approximately 65,000 in 2025. At the same time, Prince Rupert’s share of B.C. cruise calls grew from 6.2% to 10.1%. On day with multiple ships at port, our population almost doubles – and so do your potential customers.
Cruise traffic
More than doubled from 65,000 in 2025 to over 150,000 in 2026.
A prime visitor destination
The cruise sector is currently the biggest driver of tourism in Prince Rupert, alongside our other long-standing assets like the North Pacific Cannery, fishing charters, access to Haida Gwaii, the Khutzymuteen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary, Rupert’s quaint shopping district, and much more. Bloggers are calling us a ‘best kept secret’, but that won’t last forever.
Explore the Prince Rupert experience
More visitors. More demand. More opportunity.
This is your chance to get in before we really take off. More visitors create opportunities for new businesses, expanded services and fresh investment. The opportunity extends far beyond tourism itself, with entrepreneurs and investors positioned to serve a growing market for food, retail, accommodation, recreation, transportation, culture and experiences.
